Part-time Administrative Assistant
Heritage Baptist Church in Farmville, VA is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant to assist the church pastor, staff and leadership.
Position summary: Position is responsible to the pastor for performing administrative, secretarial and financial duties related to the ministry of the church. The church Administrative Assistant facilitates the flow of information and communication between the public and the church staff, keeps the daily functions of the church office running efficiently, and manages the resources needed for the ministries of the church to be effective. The successful candidate for this position will be a Christian, able to represent Heritage Baptist Church.
This position is part time, 28 hours per week with some flexibility in scheduling.
Salary will be in the range $21,840 to $24,752, based on experience and training.
Primary duties:
· Perform secretarial duties related to pastoral and church ministries. Answer phones and receive visitors.
· Administer payroll using ADP system. Keep employee information current. Distribute year-end W2/1099 forms.
· Manage communications. Prepare weekly bulletins and monthly church newsletter. Send church-wide emails. Maintain church calendar.
· Assist church clerk with maintaining church membership records.
· Assist with ordering of literature and other supplies.
· Assist with work of church committees and ministries.
Expected Proficiencies:
· Microsoft Office (expected proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Publisher).
· Ability to learn church management software and ADP payroll program.
· Basic accounting/bookkeeping skills with the ability to prepare, maintain, and provide accurate and timely financial records.
· Clear communication skills, both oral and written. Proficient in spelling, grammar, proofreading and writing.
· Working knowledge of office technology.
· Good interpersonal skills. Able to work with a variety of people.
· Organized. Able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities efficiently.
· Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in a professional manner.
· Accurate, detail oriented.
· Dependable, reliable, tactful and punctual.
· Creative thinker and problem-solver.

· One week of vacation will be earned after a 6 month review and favorable evaluation occurring within the same calendar year the employee is hired. Otherwise, the employee will receive 2 weeks vacation after the favorable evaluation. Employees otherwise receive annual evaluations.
· Vacation - 2 weeks paid vacation per year. Vacation days do not carry over to other years.
· Sick Leave - 1 week of paid sick leave per year. Sick leave does not have any cash value and does not carry over to subsequent years.
· Holidays: seven legal holidays: New Year’s Day, Easter Monday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
· Termination – a two-week notice of termination is required by either employee or employer. In cases of termination, vacation days will be prorated for months worked in the year.
